When SPIE announced plans to launch the 2026 Vision Tech Expo, it felt reminiscent of a reunion tour for a classic rock band. Those of us who’ve been around long enough remember when machine vision technology figured prominently alongside optics, industrial lasers, and other light-based technologies at photonic industry events. But, like individual members of Genesis or Pink Floyd, vision technology showed it had the chops to fill exhibit halls on its own.
But vision has never strayed far from its roots. Though vision system engineers need one foot planted squarely in non-photonic disciplines, like software, computing, and automation, they must also be fluent with optical lenses, lighting systems, and camera sensors.
TECH B2B Marketing shares a similar profile. Vision, photonics, and industrial automation all helped shape our collective experience, and in turn we have long been big advocates for growth in all these communities.
So, we eagerly anticipate attending SPIE’s co-located events from January 20–22, 2026, at San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center.
Vision Tech’s exhibit floor aims to showcase the full spectrum of photonic technologies driving today’s vision applications, including precision optics, image sensors, visible and non-visible cameras, and 3D and hyperspectral imaging systems.
TECH B2B was honored to provide nominal guidance on the programming for SPIE’s Vision Tech Forum, which will accompany the Vision Expo. The Forum adds additional strategic depth with proposed sessions covering AI integration, embedded vision and other key trends driving vision technology today.
The reconvergence of photonics and vision couldn’t be better timed. During our “Manufacturing Matters” podcast recordings at Photonics West 2025, we repeatedly heard how photonics innovations are fundamentally manufacturing stories. The same principle applies to machine vision, where success depends on understanding how components integrate into complete systems that solve specific manufacturing challenges.
We’re looking forward to Vision Tech Expo’s debut next January, whether attendees focus exclusively on machine vision or take advantage of the broader photonics expertise available throughout Photonics West. Either way, San Francisco should prove an excellent venue for exploring where machine vision technology is heading next. Vision OEMs, distributors, and integrators interested in sponsoring the event can explore more here.
The TECH B2B Marketing team looks forward to seeing you in San Francisco this January. Until then, we’re here to help with your tradeshow planning and optics marketing needs. Contact us today to discuss your needs.
